Hanbury x Diversify Architecture

This past month, our Raleigh office opened its doors to welcome a new generation of designers through our ongoing partnership with Diversify Architecture, a nonprofit dedicated to expanding access and equity in the field with a mission to broaden the pipeline of future practitioners by supporting students from early awareness to professional mentorship.

Over two Wednesdays, we hosted four scholarship students for a full schedule designed to offer a hands-on introduction to architectural practice. Students began the day with a welcome breakfast and office tour, providing an overview of our team and working environment. This was followed by a 3D printing demonstration and interactive exercise, giving students direct exposure to digital fabrication tools and workflows.

Later in the morning, students participated in a Q&A session, offering the chance to discuss career pathways, project experience, and daily life in the profession. After heading out for lunch, the group reconvened for a site tour of the sPARK LS campus, allowing students to experience our projects in context and see design concepts realized at full scale.

The days were curated to go beyond observation, inviting questions, hands-on learning, and candid conversations. For our team, it was a valuable opportunity to exchange knowledge and see our work through fresh eyes.

As one of sixteen participating firms, we’re glad to support this broader movement. We appreciate Diversify Architecture’s leadership and look forward to connecting with more students and perspectives in the years ahead.
